Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 192 – 6/26/2019

Named Jelling June 26 Joy

and so it is today, traveling the way of heart across the sound waves into Africa to have a beautiful communion with two amazing peace builders who are truly creating that more beautiful world of peace built on justice and guided by love…

onto re-membering love winning as in four years ago, the Supremes ruling for marriage equality all over the USA and moving on to re-membering on this very same day President Obama delivering balm for the soul of our nation at a memorial service in Charleston, SC including his singing “Amazing Grace”  which reminds me of a daily practice I’ve followed for four years which tunes one into the frequency of grace as well as grounding one into the wellspring of joy that is always bubbling in the deepest core of our being…

yes, what a joy to traveling the way of the heart, what a healing balm as we meet each moment as fully as we are able and meet it as a friend so that we experience each moment as a moment of peace with life singing us and filling us with loving kindness and more and more compassion…

Amazing Grace

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found;

Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,

And grace my fears relieved;

How precious did that grace appear

The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,

I have already come;

’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,

And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,

His Word my hope secures;

He will my Shield and Portion be,

As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,

And mortal life shall cease,

I shall possess, within the veil,

A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,

The sun forbear to shine;

But God, who called me here below,

Will be forever mine.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,

Bright shining as the sun,

We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise

Than when we’d first begun.

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 191 – 6/25/2019

Named Jelling June 25 PEACE Day 2017 Astonishing Light of Being -06-21 003

today is a day of walking with sunlight, feeling the inner sunlight, being sunlight, painting sunlight on the canvas of the more beautiful world we create with every thought, word and action, breathing in light, breathing out love…

~

Instructions to Painters & Poets

I asked a hundred painters and a hundred poets
how to paint sunlight
on the face of life
Their answers were ambiguous and ingenuous
as if they were all guarding trade secrets
Whereas it seems to me
all you have to do
is conceive of the whole world
and all humanity
as a kind of art work
a site-specific art work
an art project of the god of light
the whole earth and all that’s in it
to be painted with light

And the first thing you have to do
is paint out postmodern painting
And the next thing is to paint yourself
in your true colors
in primary colors
as you seem them
(without whitewash)
paint yourself as you see yourself
without make-up
without masks
Then paint your favorite people and animals
with your brush loaded with light
And be sure you get the perspective right
and don’t fake it
because one false line leads to another

And then paint the high hills
when the sun first strikes them
on an autumn morning
With your palette knife
lay it on
the cadmium yellow leaves
the ochre leaves
the vermillion leaves
of a New England autumn
And paint the ghost light of summer nights
and the light of the midnight sun
which is moon light
And don’t paint out the shadows made by light

for without chiaroscuro you’ll have shallow pictures
So paint all the dark corners too
everywhere in the world
all the hidden places and minds and hearts
which light never reaches
all the caves of ignorance and fear
the pits of despair
the sloughs of despond
and write plain upon them
“Abandon all despair, ye who enter here”

And don’t forget to paint
all those who lived their lives
as bearers of light
Paint their eyes
and the eyes of every animal
and the eyes of beautiful women
known best for the perfection of their breasts
and the eyes of men and women
known only for the light of their minds
Paint the light of their eyes
the light of sunlit laughter
the song of eyes
the song of birds in flight

And remember that the light is within
if it is anywhere
and you must paint from the inside
Start with purity
with pure white
the pure white of gesso
the pure white of cadmium white
the pure white of flake white
the pure virgin canvas
the pure life we all begin with

Turner painted sunlight
with egg tempera
(which proved unstable)
and Van Gogh did it with madness
and the blood of his ear
(also unstable)
and the Impressionists did it
by never using black
and the Abstract Expressionists did it
with white house paint
But you can do it with the pure pigment
(if you can figure out the formula)
of your own true light
But before you striek the first blow
on the virgin canvas
remember its fagility
life’s extreme fragility
and remember its innocence
its original innocence
before you strike the first blow

Or perhaps never strike it
And let the light come through
the inner light of the canvas
the inner light of the models posed
in the life study
the inner light of everyone
Let it all come through
like a pentimento
the light that’s been painted over
the life that’s been painted over
so many times
Let it all surge to the surface
the painted-over image
of primal life on earth

And when you’ve finished your painting
stand back astonished
stand back and observe
the life on earth that you’ve created
the lighted life on earth
that you’ve created
a new brave world

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 190 – 6/24/2019

Named Jelling June 24 Be Full of SELF!

I’ll tell you the mystery of life,

Life is not a mystery at all.

It is a simple mastery of the self.

~ Yogi Bhajan ~

what a pilgrimage of radiance this week is, this week of being full of SELF = Stillness Essence Love Flow, this week of World Refugee Day, Soulstice, World PEACE and Prayer Day, World Yoga Day, World Rainforest Day and on and on… every moment a galvanizing moment to stand in love for love… in turbulence, more and more need for more and more loving presence, more and more trust in divine unfolding, more and more surrender into divine flow… hear now these lovely intentions so perfect, as metaphor, for this moment invoked by the Reverend Kevin Ross  at the US House of Representatives…

May we turn within and look higher to the God of our understanding and pray.
Loving Presence, we invoke from the celestial balconies the witness of the pioneers of our progress whose bloodied journeys marshaled unprecedented faith and birthed a new nation of radical inclusion.
Bless these sons and daughters of promise gathered in this, the people’s House. Let them reach higher for crowns of conscience to exemplify compassion and bring from their districts to their desks sharp pencils that carve on their hearts the faces of freedom that they represent.
Let this House be an incubator for our best ideals, not a prison for our poorest politics.
Let these heroes and sheroes of the people’s House summon the intellectual imagination and intuitive navigation to serve bolder together and break through the ideological gridlock that arrests the potential of our great Republic.
Let these innovators of cooperation and builders of the beloved community reunite these States of America and lead the way for a world that works for all.
This is enough. In the name of a love supreme we pray, and so it is. Amen

“There was a startling recognition that the nature of the universe was not as I had been taught… I not only saw the connectedness, I felt it.… I was overwhelmed with the sensation of physically and mentally extending out into the cosmos. I realized that this was a biological response of my brain attempting to reorganize and give meaning to information about the wonderful and awesome processes that I was privileged to view.”

~

in the quotation above, astronaut Edgar Mitchell shares an epiphany from outer space travel, a shift in consciousness that has been called the overview effect… after many days/moons/turns around the sun/incarnations of inner space exploration, traveling at the speed of light toward ultima thule, the great beyond, the overview effect is now living me and in this wondrous state, i feel i have crossed the rubicon and sit perched in a nest high in the heavens and deep in the buoyant sea with telescopic vision empowering a 360 degree view of the cosmic web in that field out beyond right and wrong doing where we float in grace, in sacred space in awe of true emptiness, the vast spaciousness of being free, a light wave of infinity, dancing rainbow mystery…

Named Jelling June 22 Rainfofest Breathe.

Happy World Rainforest Day!

today on World Rainforest Day – a day encouraging action and awareness to protect the world’s rainforests – stop, take a breath, and reflect on our intimate relationship to the life-giving power of the Amazon rainforest and all that she provides for us as the lungs of the planet…

i love this image, even more, i love seeing pachamama as a rainforest showering us with breath, giving us life… so, let’s take this moment to feel pachamama  breathing us through our one heart flowing right into the stillpoint, our ground of being, oneness… in this sacred space, we open our hearts in rhythm with beloved’s flowing breath and feel the suffering of the cosmos and in the silence hear the whispers of what’s ours to do with our out breath…

i love this image, this metaphor returning to me on this day of pilgrimage when i’m re-membering the conception of the poetic peace pilgrimage over six years ago as a daily breathing practice in rhythm with flow… i love this image, this metaphor returning on this day of pilgrimage when i awaken in wonder and awe of  great mystery and of bearing witness to the medicine of these cosmic lungs…

thank you, pachamama , for giving us these organs of breath, may we steward sustainably…

on soulstice, we stand in stillness with brother sun, welcoming you smiling with folded hands,  honoring your radiance breathing through our one heart, greeting you as beloved and opening our heart to you…

today, the veil between the worlds is so thin, a magical day to see through the mists… to return to the isle of Avalon on a metaphorical journey of transformation on this day the sun stands still for the divine union between heaven and earth, masculine and feminine, electricity and magnetism to occur… a sacred moment when divine feminine spirit pours the luminous light of love all over the cosmos… may we all feel this fluid energy of light flowing, a loving compassion that frees us to enter the vast unknown, to stand still with the sun…

how i love this day of standing still withe sun and

re-membering life is a pilgrimage to the inner sun, sol, soul,

the city of gold in the heart within the heart, sacred space of radiance…

holding the treasured wisdom of our true value and how we savethe worlds….

A Prayer of Healing

We come together this Summer Solstice under old oak trees, nurtured by the ground, the living green grass under our feet, to honor the longest day of the year. We see the pain of the Earth, the devastation of Her body. But today we celebrate Her. We say Prayers of Healing, for pachamama and for all Her children.

We join with the earth and with each other.
To celebrate the seas.
To rejoice the sunlight.
To sing the song of the stars.

We join with the earth and with each other.
To recall our destiny.
To renew our spirits.
To reinvigorate our bodies.

We join with the earth and with each other.
To create the human community.
To promote justice and peace.
To remember our children.

We join together as many and diverse expressions of one loving mystery: for the healing of the earth and the renewal of all life.We join with the earth and with each other.
To bring new life to the land.
To restore the waters.
To refresh the air.

We join with the earth and with each other.
To renew the forests.
To care for the plants.
To protect the creatures.

“Refugees are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children, with the same hopes and ambitions as us—except that a twist of fate has bound their lives to a global refugee crisis on an unprecedented scale.”
~ Khaled Hosseini ~

~

Today is the 19th annual World Refugee Day. The United Nations Refugee Agency sponsors this day recognizing and raising awareness about the world’s obligation to welcome and shelter refugees—those forced to flee violence or disaster in their home land.

On 4 December 2000, the United Nations General Assembly in Resolution 55/76 decided that, from 2001, 20 June would be celebrated as World Refugee Day. In this resolution, the General Assembly noted that 2001 marked the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees.

World Refugee Day reminds us that all human beings are valuable, we all deserve protections, and we are all personally obligated to care for one another.

Now More Than Ever, We Need to Stand with Refugees…

let us create a world of peace built on justice and guided by love…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 185 – 6/19/2019

Named Jelling June 19 Juneteenth jth2

On June 19, 1964, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was approved after surviving an 83-day filibuster in the United States Senate. Ninety-nine years earlier, on June 19, 1865, we celebrated the first African-American Emancipation Day, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States… Let us celebrate today with the words of President Obama on June 19. 2016…

~

“Just outside the Oval Office hangs a painting depicting the night of December 31, 1862. In it, African-American men, women, and children crowd around a single pocket watch, waiting for the clock to strike midnight and the Emancipation Proclamation to take effect. As the slaves huddle anxiously in the dimly lit room, we can sense how even two more minutes seems like an eternity to wait for one’s freedom. But the slaves of Galveston, Texas, had to wait more than two years after Lincoln’s decree and two months after Appomattox to receive word that they were free at last.

Today we commemorate the anniversary of that delayed but welcome news. Decades of collective action would follow as equality and justice for African-Americans advanced slowly, frustratingly, gradually, on our nation’s journey toward a more perfect union. On this Juneteenth, we remember that struggle as we reflect on how far we’ve come as a country. The slaves of Galveston knew their freedom was only a first step, just as the bloodied foot soldiers who crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge 100 years later knew they had to keep marching.

Juneteenth is a time to recommit ourselves to the work that remains undone. We remember that even in the darkest hours, there is cause to hope for tomorrow’s light. Today, no matter our race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation, we recommit ourselves to working to free modern-day slaves around the world and to honoring in our own time the efforts of those who fought so hard to steer our country truer to our highest ideals.”

“Empty yourself of everything.  Let the mind rest at peace.  The ten thousand things rise and fall while the Self watches their return.  They grow and flourish and then return to the Source.  Returning to the Source is stillness, which is the way of Nature.  The way of Nature is unchanging.”  ~Lao Tsu, Tao Te Ching

~

today is such a day, a day of emptying everything and lying in the sacred space of the beyond, the galactic center, the cosmic womb, primordial space of birthing stars… still under the sway of  this luminous moon of blessings, may we join in the practice of metta, lovingkindness with a thousand thousandfold beings…

~

may our hearts burst open in unconditional love

may our minds be illumined by a peace passing all understanding

may our bodies be flooded with central sun’s light

may our spirits touch all that is with our transforming radiant presence

~

Peace to all beings
Whether near or far
Known or unknown
Real or imaginary
Visible or invisible
Born or yet to be born.
May all beings
Be well and happy
And free from fear.
Peace to all beings
Within and beyond the imagination
In the world of ideas
In the world of memories
And in the world of dreams.
May all beings
Be well and happy
And free from fear.
Peace in all elements
Of earth, air, fire and water
Fulfilled in space
Peace.
Peace in all universes
From the smallest cells in our bodies
To the greatest galaxies in space
Peace
And light rising
Peace to all beings
Within each being here
To those beings that have been in the past
And to those beings that are yet to be in the future
May all beings
Within each being here
Be well and happy
And free from fear.

You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

– Buddha –

according to the tibetan buddhist lunar calendar, this potent full moon is the one under which we re-member  the buddha’s binth death and enlightenenment and is celebrated as Saka Dawa,  month of the Saka star…

today marks another remarkable moment – on this day ninety-one years ago, another first flight took place when Amelia Earhart embarked on the first trans-Atlantic flight by a woman… flying from Newfoundland to Wales in 21 hours, she captured our imagination forever… her legendary feats are the very emblem of courage — and of a being who refused to let fears and adversity ground her dreams…  let’s take this moment to revel in her flight and soar…

~

The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.

Everyone has oceans to fly, if they have the heart to do it. Is it reckless? Maybe. But what do dreams know of boundaries?

No borders, just horizons – only liberation.

Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace.
