i love this picture of the Dalai Lama as a child and i love taking the occasion of his 84th birthday to celebrate his powerful planetary presence with a few of his inspiring words…
~
“Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.”
~
yes, may we all breathe in his blessings of gratitude, compassion and service deeply through our one heart… tonight, i traveled by livestream to be with the Dalai Lama in India for his birthday celebration… what a huge gathering vibrating at the frequency of joy and love, such a visceral experience of peace…
i’d like to close with a few more words from His Holiness, words he said as he was leaving Portalandia following an Earth Summit back in 2013…
~
“I’m always mentioning that mentally, emotionally and physically we are the same human being. So the potential which I have and that I use – you also have that same potential. You must realize that potential and utilize that potential as much as you can. Then you will be a happy person and live a meaningful life.”
~
Happy Birthday! May you continue to live for a very long time being compassionate presence and may we give you what you said would be the best birthday gift – to practice your three commitments of wherever we are creating an atmosphere of compassion, a society of compassion; of being harmony and of sharing the ancient and useful Tibetan knowledge of Nalanda …
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 201 – 7/5/2019
“When we strive to make our lives, every thought, word and action, a living Wopida, we are given a great spiritual gift. For whenever our soul and the inmost chambers of our heart are filled with thanksgiving and gratitude it also naturally becomes filled with compassion, love, understanding, forgiveness, joy, happiness and oneness. When our lives are centered in this State of Consciousness, there is no room left for the experience of fear, hate, prejudice, revenge, jealousy, loneliness and disunity. There is no room for anything that separates ourselves and our oneness with our Beloved Creator, our Human Family and all Life, seen and unseen.” – Hereditary Chief, Phil Lane Jr.

on the heels of celebrating the USA’s Independence Day as Interdependence Day, a day which our cosmos needs to live everyday to heal the turbulence of war, famine, homelessness, climate destruction and unprecedented inequality… it is incumbent on all our relations to re-member the road to liberation, the path of liberty and justice for all is the way of interdependence, of real-eye-sing we are one… here now the 1992 Declaration of Interdependence delivered at the Earth Summit in Rio…

THIS WE KNOW
We are the earth, through the plants and animals that nourish us.
We are the rains and the oceans that flow through our veins.
We are the breath of the forests of the land, and the plants of the sea.
We are human animals, related to all other life as descendants of the firstborn cell.
We share with these kin a common history, written in our genes.
We share a common present, filled with uncertainty.
And we share a common future, as yet untold.
We humans are but one of thirty million species weaving the thin layer of life enveloping the world.
The stability of communities of living things depends upon this diversity.
Linked in that web, we are interconnected — using, cleansing, sharing and replenishing the fundamental elements of life.
Our home, planet Earth, is finite; all life shares its resources and the energy from the sun, and therefore has limits to growth.
For the first time, we have touched those limits.
When we compromise the air, the water, the soil and the variety of life, we steal from the endless future to serve the fleeting present.THIS WE BELIEVE
Humans have become so numerous and our tools so powerful that we have driven fellow creatures to extinction, dammed the great rivers, torn down ancient forests, poisoned the earth, rain and wind, and ripped holes in the sky.
Our science has brought pain as well as joy; our comfort is paid for by the suffering of millions.
We are learning from our mistakes, we are mourning our vanished kin, and we now build a new politics of hope.
We respect and uphold the absolute need for clean air, water and soil.
We see that economic activities that benefit the few while shrinking the inheritance of many are wrong.
And since environmental degradation erodes biological capital forever, full ecological and social cost must enter all equations of development.
We are one brief generation in the long march of time; the future is not ours to erase.
So where knowledge is limited, we will remember all those who will walk after us, and err on the side of caution.THIS WE RESOLVE
All this that we know and believe must now become the foundation of the way we live.
At this turning point in our relationship with Earth, we work for an evolution: from dominance to partnership; from fragmentation to connection; from insecurity, to interdependence.~
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 200 – 7/4/2019
As we celebrate in the USA our Declaration of Independence (signed in 1776), we also affirm our fundamental Interdependence with fellow citizens of our community, our country and the planet. The first Declaration of Interdependence was written by Will Durant in 1944, and since then there have been many versions offered by different people and organizations. This affirmation written by Melanie Bacon is perfect for every day…
~
We hold these truths to be self-evident:
That all life is interconnected, and endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights and responsibilities,
That among these are presence, compassion, and the pursuit of happiness.
That to secure these rights and responsibilities,We open our minds and hearts to the needs of others, and our own true needs,
We hear the sound of the living universe in our ears, and add our voices to the song,
We live every moment with awareness of the purity and power of existence.
And for the support of this Declaration, we pledge to each other our love and our breath,
For the freedom of the one is the freedom of the all, and the pain of the one is the pain of the all;
The breath of the one is the breath of the all, and the breath of the all is the breath of God.

today, on this day of so much emotion, energy in motion, i re-member back to undergraduate days in the late sixties and early seventies when life was a running consciousness conversation with interdependence as one of our favorite musings… we were feeling the energy of oneness and interconnection, of ubuntu, a term appearing in South African sources back in the mid-nineteenth century…
i love the beautifully illustrative story of the anthropologist proposing a game to some children in an African tribe where he puts a basket of fruit near a tree telling them whoever gets there first wins the sweet fruits… so, he gives the signal to run and they all take each others hands and run together and then sit in a circle enjoying the treats… when questioned as to why they chose to run as a group, out of the mouths of babes poured wisdom… ubuntu, how can one of us be happy if all the rest are sad?
may we all live ubuntu… I AM because WE ARE… and, may we affirm our dedication to cosmic stewardship of a world of peace built on justice for all guided by unconditional love for all our relations real-eye-sing there’s only one of us here and we depend on each other to interbe…
shanti shanti shantihi…
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 199 – 7/3/2019
on the eve of july 4th celebrations in the usa, i contemplate freedom re-membering so many profound words from Viktor Frankl, a being whose life was an unbroken contemplation on liberation… join me in bathing in this frequency, may our bathing flood the cosmos with wave after wave of liberating energy…
~
Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.
We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.
For the first time in my life I saw the truth as it is set into song by so many poets, proclaimed as the final wisdom by so many thinkers. The truth – that Love is the ultimate and highest goal to which man can aspire. Then I grasped the meaning of the greatest secret that human poetry and human thought and belief have to impart: The salvation of man is through love and in love.
…never forget that we may also find meaning in life even when confronted with a hopeless situation, when facing a fate that cannot be changed… what then matters is to bear witness to the uniquely human potential at its best… to transform personal tragedy into triumph…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 198 – 7/2/2019
ah yes, today is the extraordinary total soular eclipse of the new moon in cancer, a day we’ve been feeling coming on for so long and it shook my world…
although i wasn’t in totality today as i was 2 years ago when i took this picture, the effects were just as primal with a lucid dream portending the whole cosmos being shaken up and i had to call on Rumi…
“Every step of the way I will walk with you and never leave you stranded. The Beloved is in the midst of your seeking holding your hand wherever you wander.”
thank goodness for a supportive field in which to ground and for this poem of Maya Angelou’s, a favorite, reminding us that like the sun’s eclipse, we will also return to rise again and again…
Still I Rise
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
’Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
Weakened by my soulful cries?Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
’Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own backyard. You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?Out of the huts of history’s shame
I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 197 – 7/1/2019
welcome joyous july, a month vibrating at the frequency of one, of new beginnings, of creative momentum and, as i write, in 13 hours the moon will be dark calling for our planting new seeds, new intentions which are amplified under our cosmic turtle moon because of the total soular eclipse occurring a couple of hours before the new moon…
in honor of this oh so potent total soular eclipse new moon, i’m letting go of my usual practice of sharing the image of new beginnings for an image of a collective intention for us all…
eclipses call us to re-set and re-boot, to let go, to go with the flow, we are being re-built, re-wired, re-plumbed under the great mother energies of the cancer new moon…
may we all re-member the wellspring of compassion we are…
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 196 – 6/30/2019
“Live in joy and freedom, even amongst those who are sick or troubled. Live in joy and a peaceful heart, even among those in conflict. Quiet the mind and heart and find the sweet joy of living in the dharma.”
~ Buddha ~

in this sacred moment , i feel us sitting on a high dune with a panoramic view of the all that is poised in a pregnant pause on the edge, the verge of a new world – can you hear her breathing?
this new world of unconditional love guiding us into justice for all building a rock solid peace beyond our most expansive and deepest imaginings…
did you feel a crescendo today as thousands and thousands gather across the cosmos standing in love for love real-eye-sing there is only one of us here and in moments when it feels the center cannot hold, it is incumbent upon us wherever we are to engage, to involve ourselves in right action, both sacred and subtle action…
let us bless this sacred space of the stillpoint at the center of our circle, the hub of the wheel where all that is, is still, where everything is oh so real, where the peace that passeth all understanding is palpable calling us into deep silence…. listen, listen to the cosmic hum… listen, listen to our heartbeat’s drum… listen, listen for the sound of the bell syncing our breathing to the mantra, all is well… deep peace of the running wave to you, deep peace, deep peace, deep peace…
always being love, always becoming love… always being light, always becoming light…
every moment a moment of peace…
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 195 – 6/29/2019
thank you for walking home with me along the rainbow trail to Tahoma, the great mother of mountains and cathedral of stillness… today marks a sacred anniversary… four years of sauntering along a devotional path of invocation, fourteen hundred sixty-one days of opening the seven sacred seals’ portals of grace, thirty five thousand sixty-four hours of offering the wounds of us all up for clean-sing, two million one hundred three thousand eight hundred forty moments of being breathed into life more abundant…
thank you Beloved for breaking our hearts open ever wider empowering us to see through the eyes of love, to deepen in the ways of compassion, to stretch our capacity for patience and trust, to flow in the peace that passeth all understanding in this moment, this beautiful moment…
deepest bows to my beloved contemplative partner whose steadfast devocean brings us to this moment, to Richard Rudd, receiver and transmitter of The Seven Sacred Seals and to all beings populating the one cosmic sea of love energy…
thanks for pausing in this beautiful moment on our endless voyage deeper and deeper into the great unknown to honor our sacred pilgrimage of coming home to the heart with a blessing for travelers from John O’donohue…

Every time you leave home,
Another road takes you
Into a world you were never in.New strangers on other paths await.
New places that have never seen you
Will startle a little at your entry.
Old places that know you well
Will pretend nothing
Changed since your last visit. When you travel, you find yourself
Alone in a different way,
More attentive now
To the self you bring along,
Your more subtle eye watching
You abroad; and how what meets you
Touches that part of the heart
That lies low at home:How you unexpectedly attune
To the timbre in some voice,
Opening in conversation
You want to take in
To where your longing
Has pressed hard enough
Inward, on some unsaid dark,
To create a crystal of insight
You could not have known
You needed
To illuminate
Your way.When you travel,
A new silence
Goes with you,
And if you listen,
You will hear
What your heart would
Love to say.A journey can become a sacred thing:
Make sure, before you go,
To take the time
To bless your going forth,
To free your heart of ballast
So that the compass of your soul
Might direct you toward
The territories of spirit
Where you will discover
More of your hidden life,
And the urgencies
That deserve to claim you.May you travel in an awakened way,
Gathered wisely into your inner ground;
That you may not waste the invitations
Which wait along the way to transform you.May you travel safely, arrive refreshed,
And live your time away to its fullest;
Return home more enriched, and free
To balance the gift of days which call you.~
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 194 – 6/28/2019
we are nomads in the vast skysea
dancing waves of rainbow mystery
singing songs of peaceful harmony

There is no independent existence. There is no you and no me apart from other people and the earth and the wind and the sun. We exist because of numberless causal factors—our genetics, the love of our mothers and fathers, our place in time, the food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and so on. And we are defined by our relationships to others and to our world. This is the matrix in which we act. When designing a garden we will again and again remind ourselves of this and cultivate the mind that thinks in unfolding, evolving energetic systems. Because a garden is a complete mandala, its parts relate to one another. Together they form one whole energetic system. The parts are inseparable from the whole, and the whole is inseparable from its parts, and both are in process of changing.
Excerpted from:The Sound of Cherry BlossomsZen Lessons from the Garden of Contemplative Designby Alxe Noden and Martin Hakubai Mosko, page 19–20~in this moment of stillness beyond space and time, deepest bows to the Beloved, the all flowing source of love, wisdom and truth and to all populating our one cosmic sea of love energy…
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 6 – Day 193 – 6/27/2019
It’s the silence,
not the sound, that defines magic of Aum.
The connection to the silence behind the sound is everywhere, at all times.
so, join me this moment in chanting a couple of mantras from the sanskrit peace collection under this moon of coming aum to the heart…
~
May peace radiate there in the whole sky as well as in the vast ethereal space everywhere.
May peace reign all over this earth, in water and in all herbs, trees and creepers.
May peace flow over the whole universe.
May peace be in the Supreme Being Brahman.
And may there always exist in all peace and peace alone.
Aum peace, peace and peace to us and all beings!
~
Lead us from the unreal to the real
Lead us from darkness to light
Lead us from death to immortality
Aum peace, peace, peace!
~
This gift of love is given to source for the gift of life more abundant…May this gift bless all beings…
