Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 300- 10/12/2023

“There’s a revolution that needs to happen and it starts from inside each one of us.”

~ Thich Nhat Hanh ~

i write again today of the necessary revolution as we all feel the turbulence of the outer world bringing us to the brink in this sacred moment of great turning and cosmic rite of passage… the revolution i write of today is one of consciousness, of imagination, a bold adventure the cosmos invites us to explore as foretold in other moments of eternity by the grandmothers…

there comes a time in the unraveling when the grandmothers notice it is the moment to focus on the good of the village and to remind the earthlings of how to be… they call in the spirits of the ancestors and the teachers and the unborn generations and the spirit of fire to kindle a flame which they nurture and tender and place in the center of the wisdom council where the villagers sit in circle…

the grandmothers call on all the relatives to take a pledge repeating these words… in every action, in every thought, in every decision, i promise to hold the good of the children of all beings in this generation and for seven generations hence and this is my sacred vow…

may all of us tend the inner flame supported by the communitas of the invisible realms holding in our one heart and living out this sacred calling, this vow to always put first the good of the whole, to do what is best for the children of the earth for 7 generations back and to come… thousand fold thanks for all who are calling in this shift daily and grounding the vow in being peace in every moment…

and then, peace prevails on earth… blessed bee…

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image.png

in this moment of eternity we celebrate a treasure trove of riches with it being the International Day of Peace and World Gratitude Day – 2 days so lovely to weave together – when we are in gratitude, we open the pathless path of peace and in this potent portal of equinox with so many of our relations intending peace and thanksgiving, we activate the very energies so requisite for these times…

inspired by the astonishing light of our being, let’s take this moment, this wild and precious moment to leap with faith into the mystical world beyond the five senses and reason and conditional love and judgement into the tiny space of the heart, vast spaciousness of the all that is as we read the sacred words of the thanksgiving address, open our hearts and come ito peace personally and collectively…

deep bows, co-hearts…

Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Address

 “Greetings to the Natural World

The People

Today we have gathered and we see that the cycles of life continue. We have been given the duty to live in balance and harmony with each other and all living things. So now, we bring our minds together as one as we give greetings and thanks to each other as people.

Now our minds are one.

The Earth Mother

We are all thankful to our Mother, the Earth, for she gives us all that we need for life. She supports our feet as we walk about upon her. It gives us joy that she continues to care for us as she has from the beginning of time. To our mother, we send greetings and thanks.

Now our minds are one.

The Waters

We give thanks to all the waters of the world for quenching our thirst and providing us with strength. Water is life. We know its power in many forms- waterfalls and rain, mists and streams, rivers and oceans. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to the spirit of Water.

Now our minds are one.

The Fish

We turn our minds to the all the Fish life in the water. They were instructed to cleanse and purify the water. They also give themselves to us as food. We are grateful that we can still find pure water. So, we turn now to the Fish and send our greetings and thanks.

Now our minds are one.

The Plants

Now we turn toward the vast fields of Plant life. As far as the eye can see, the Plants grow, working many wonders. They sustain many life forms. With our minds gathered together, we give thanks and look forward to seeing Plant life for many generations to come.

Now our minds are one.

The Food Plants

With one mind, we turn to honor and thank all the Food Plants we harvest from the garden. Since the beginning of time, the grains, vegetables, beans and berries have helped the people survive. Many other living things draw strength from them too. We gather all the Plant Foods together as one and send them a greeting of thanks.

Now our minds are one.

The Medicine Herbs

Now we turn to all the Medicine herbs of the world. From the beginning they were instructed to take away sickness. They are always waiting and ready to heal us. We are happy there are still among us those special few who remember how to use these plants for healing. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to the Medicines and to the keepers of the Medicines. Now our minds are one.

The Animals

We gather our minds together to send greetings and thanks to all the Animal life in the world. They have many things to teach us as people. We are honored by them when they give up their lives so we may use their bodies as food for our people. We see them near our homes and in the deep forests. We are glad they are still here and we hope that it will always be so.

 Now our minds are one

The Trees

We now turn our thoughts to the Trees. The Earth has many families of Trees who have their own instructions and uses. Some provide us with shelter and shade, others with fruit, beauty and other useful things. Many people of the world use a Tree as a symbol of peace and strength. With one mind, we greet and thank the Tree life.

Now our minds are one.

The Birds

We put our minds together as one and thank all the Birds who move and fly about over our heads. The Creator gave them beautiful songs. Each day they remind us to enjoy and appreciate life. The Eagle was chosen to be their leader. To all the Birds-from the smallest to the largest-we send our joyful greetings and thanks.

Now our minds are one.

 The Four Winds

We are all thankful to the powers we know as the Four Winds. We hear their voices in the moving air as they refresh us and purify the air we breathe. They help us to bring the change of seasons. From the four directions they come, bringing us messages and giving us strength. With one mind, we send our greetings and thanks to the Four Winds.

Now our minds are one.

 The Thunderers

Now we turn to the west where our grandfathers, the Thunder Beings, live. With lightning and thundering voices, they bring with them the water that renews life. We are thankful that they keep those evil things made by Okwiseres underground. We bring our minds together as one to send greetings and thanks to our Grandfathers, the Thunderers.

Now our minds are one.

 The Sun

We now send greetings and thanks to our eldest Brother, the Sun. Each day without fail he travels the sky from east to west, bringing the light of a new day. He is the source of all the fires of life. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to our Brother, the Sun.

Now our minds are one.

 Grandmother Moon

We put our minds together to give thanks to our oldest Grandmother, the Moon, who lights the night-time sky. She is the leader of woman all over the world, and she governs the movement of the ocean tides. By her changing face we measure time, and it is the Moon who watches over the arrival of children here on Earth. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to our Grandmother, the Moon.

 Now our minds are one.

The Stars

We give thanks to the Stars who are spread across the sky like jewelry. We see them in the night, helping the Moon to light the darkness and bringing dew to the gardens and growing things. When we travel at night, they guide us home. With our minds gathered together as one, we send greetings and thanks to the Stars.

Now our minds are one.

The Enlightened Teachers

We gather our minds to greet and thank the enlightened Teachers who have come to help throughout the ages. When we forget how to live in harmony, they remind us of the way we were instructed to live as people. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to these caring teachers.

 Now our minds are one.

The Creator

Now we turn our thoughts to the Creator, or Great Spirit, and send greetings and thanks for all the gifts of Creation. Everything we need to live a good life is here on this Mother Earth. For all the love that is still around us, we gather our minds together as one and send our choicest words of greetings and thanks to the Creator.

 Now our minds are one.

Closing Words

We have now arrived at the place where we end our words. Of all the things we have named, it was not our intention to leave anything out. If something was forgotten, we leave it to each individual to send such greetings and thanks in their own way.

Now our minds are one.”

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 244 – 8/17/2023

today is the thirty-sixth anniversary of harmonic convergence, one of my favorite of days – yes every day is a favorite and every moment of eternity is one of harmonic convergence… i love celbrating this day, every day, as a day of devocean, a day of grace, a day when the sun, in the form of holy grandmother spider creatrix, shines through the clouds offering very warm embraces and whispered words of wisdom to be still in this moment of wild abandon into the great turning, to trust this moment of surrender to the true self, to re-member the sun always shines and when it shines on rain, creation is transformed into iridescent rainbow arcs encircling the cosmos within and without converging, confluing in perfect harmony, in this moment, this beautiful moment of grace… may we all awaken to the beauty breathing us alive…

yes, there is beauty in this moment as we open to mama gaia sending us more and more increasingly emphatic messages about changing our ways of dominion and power over and coming home to walking in balance… yes, caterpillar, let go of ravenous consumption dying to the false self to be re-birthed as imaginal cells of the one body of the true self – rooted, winged deep diving beings of flight…

join me for a moment in the clouds of unknowing, the dark stillness where sustainable creation is born, breathing in the deep nourishment from the taproot, the umbilical cord of of earth mother and the golden light of the stars feeling the great central sun in the center of our interbeing being kindled and shining astonishingly through the clouds creating a world of rainbow energy, of harmony, a space always bubbling within when we tune in…

aloha and mahalo…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 204 – 7/8/2023

“When we strive to make our lives, every thought, word and action, a living Wopida, we are given a great spiritual gift. For whenever our soul and the inmost chambers of our heart are filled with thanksgiving and gratitude it also naturally becomes filled with compassion, love, understanding, forgiveness, joy, happiness and oneness. When our lives are centered in this State of Consciousness, there is no room left for the experience of fear, hate, prejudice, revenge, jealousy, loneliness and disunity. There is no room for anything that separates ourselves and our oneness with our Beloved Creator, our Human Family and all Life, seen and unseen.” – Hereditary Chief, Phil Lane Jr.

~

well come to another day of celebrating the astonishing light of our being on the heels of acknowledging the USA’s 247th birthday a day i like to celebrate as interdependence day, a day which we are more aware than ever our cosmos needs to live daily to heal the turbulence of war, famine, homelessness, climate destruction and unprecedented inequality, inequity and injustice… it is incumbent on all our relations to re-member the road to liberation, the path of liberty and justice for all is the way of interdependence, of real-eye-sing we are one… here now the 1992 Declaration of Interdependence delivered at the Earth Summit in Rio:

THIS WE KNOW

We are the earth, through the plants and animals that nourish us.
We are the rains and the oceans that flow through our veins.
We are the breath of the forests of the land, and the plants of the sea.
We are human animals, related to all other life as descendants of the firstborn cell.
We share with these kin a common history, written in our genes.
We share a common present, filled with uncertainty.
And we share a common future, as yet untold.
We humans are but one of thirty million species weaving the thin layer of life enveloping the world.
The stability of communities of living things depends upon this diversity.
Linked in that web, we are interconnected — using, cleansing, sharing and replenishing the fundamental elements of life.
Our home, planet Earth, is finite; all life shares its resources and the energy from the sun, and therefore has limits to growth.
For the first time, we have touched those limits.
When we compromise the air, the water, the soil and the variety of life, we steal from the endless future to serve the fleeting present.

THIS WE BELIEVE

Humans have become so numerous and our tools so powerful that we have driven fellow creatures to extinction, dammed the great rivers, torn down ancient forests, poisoned the earth, rain and wind, and ripped holes in the sky.
Our science has brought pain as well as joy; our comfort is paid for by the suffering of millions.
We are learning from our mistakes, we are mourning our vanished kin, and we now build a new politics of hope.
We respect and uphold the absolute need for clean air, water and soil.
We see that economic activities that benefit the few while shrinking the inheritance of many are wrong.
And since environmental degradation erodes biological capital forever, full ecological and social cost must enter all equations of development.
We are one brief generation in the long march of time; the future is not ours to erase.
So where knowledge is limited, we will remember all those who will walk after us, and err on the side of caution.

THIS WE RESOLVE

All this that we know and believe must now become the foundation of the way we live.
At this turning point in our relationship with Earth, we work for an evolution: from dominance to partnership; from fragmentation to connection; from insecurity, to interdependence.”

in each and every sacred moment of eternity, may we reverence the mystery of cosmic flow and be fully present to whatever may come and go trusting in the web of infinite, interconnected threads woven by creatrix, source of all that is…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 83 – 3/9/2023

welcome, welcome to day 40 of a season of peace… today is a day of soulitude, a day of listening to the wind and the rain… a day of radical presence, of being in the new consciousness of dreamy pisces, a spacious consciousness of nowhere to go and nothing to do but simply wait patiently for the soul song to flow…

i’m in good company,  my old dolphin guides, Adolpho and Adelphi, free and easy wanderers of the great beyond, come out to celebrate our ever widening circles of courageous souls letting go of small i identity to dissolve into the individuated large I AM Presence and to be open (organic presence empty now) to the cosmic flow of oceanic consciousness…

these wise sages of liminal space, guides at the threshold whisper words of grace… “re-member, it is the impeded stream that sings” and so i venture with them to the stillpoint to listen… here i see grandmother spider dancing creation and weaving a new web of life, carbon turned into crystals of light, a thousand dancing diamonds twinkling in the night, imbuing the all with powerful sight of the world being breathed into life again, unfolding mystery of the knowledge within… here in great silence we listen deeply to our one cosmic heart, dancing the love song we are called now to impart…

shanti, shanti, shantihi…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 9 – Day 343 – 11/24/2022

in solidarity with our brothers and sisters and Mother Earth, we join in spirit with the Native Americans, the first people of Turtle Island on the 53rd commemoration of a National Day of mourning real-eye-sing Thanksgiving framed as the Wampanoag people welcoming hapless English refugees at Plymouth—a fictive account promulgated two centuries later during the American Civil War—is extremely problematic… during those two centuries, European settlers invaded Native lands, slaughtered Native families, and destroyed resources needed for survival of the Indigenous inhabitants of what became the Colonies, and then the United States of America… once the Civil War ended, Union generals took their battle-hardened troops westward wreaking destruction on Native populations and herding people onto so-called reservations, internment camps…

it’s a bloody and shameful series of chapters in American history that we have not dealt with nor reconciled… so, the question becomes, should we end the Thanksgiving holiday because of the fictitious overlay of pseudo-harmony and subsequent white-washing of history that it conveys? do we replace it, as the United American Indians of New England (UAINE) have done since 1970, with a National Day of Mourning honoring Native ancestors and their struggles to survive today and educate Americans about the actual history of the holiday? can we reframe this American holiday to include Indigenous Peoples, European “settlers” (itself a problematic term), and the continuing waves of immigrants from around the world seeking a better life on these shores?

under this new moon of truth, let us recommit ourselves to building that “more perfect union” and making a future where all people are respected, appreciated, and provided with the tools for “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…” we must repair the breach with reparations which are the ultimate way to build power in exploited communities… as we build bridges from the ashes of the racist and genocidal colonial past and present and begin to relate to each other with the understanding we belong to each other, we come into the sacred space of true gratitude for all our relations…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 9 – Day 341 – 11/22/2022

“… And is not peace, in the last analysis, basically a matter of human rights — the right to live out our lives without fear of devastation — the right to breathe air as nature provided it — the right of future generations to a healthy existence?” President John F. Kennedy, June 10, 1963

today is a special day of re-membering and entering the deep silence of the inner ground and gathering seeds for the almost new moon in sag…

as i till this organic field of consciousness, i am transported to that friday fifty-nine years ago and into my 12 year old self sitting in my 7th grade classroom in a sleepy, backwater town… the world took a dramatic turn when the principal appeared at the door of our classroom with a newsflash: the president has been shot and is dead… i re-member my outrage now as if those words were just pronounced and how i could not believe how cavalierly he uttered them and with a smile… we were shooed out to recess where all of my classmates circled around me knowing JFK was like a member of our family… three years earlier, I had traipsed around the state with my father to his speeches and to his senate office in DC and i can still feel my heart almost beating out of my chest every time i’d get to greet him and shake his hand… and then the inauguration and his address that stirred a nation and now, 1000 days later, we’d be heading back to DC for the state funeral… today, i’m both a 9 year old living in Camelot on the brink of a new world and a 12 year old taking comfort in hearing strains of “We Shall Overcome” rising from the somber and dignified crowds of people gathered to say goodby to our fallen leader…

may we take this moment, this beautiful moment, to salute all poetic peace pilgrims with JFK’s invocation of peace in the quotations above and the video below of the whole speech that is magnificent…   these quotations come from this greatest speech of his ever, a commencement address given at American University some four and a half months before he was gunned down in Dallas… these words live on eternally as a clarion call for a peace for all time…

may we all awaken to the wisdom of this radical (rooted) vision of peace…

“Oh Great Spirit who dwells in the sky,
lead us to the path of peace and understanding,
let all of us live together as brothers and sisters.
Our lives are so short here, walking upon Mother Earth’s surface,
let our eyes be opened to all the blessings you have given us.
Please hear our prayers, Oh Great Spirit.”

“PEACE IS A DAILY, A WEEKLY, A MONTHLY PROCESS, GRADUALLY CHANGING OPINIONS, SLOWLY ERODING OLD BARRIERS, QUIETLY BUILDING NEW STRUCTURES. AND HOWEVER UNDRAMATIC THE PURSUIT OF PEACE, THAT PURSUIT MUST GO ON.”

~JFK~

~

in this creation moment of eternity bathed in the waters of gaia’s womb, may we wage peace…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 9 – Day 27 – 1/12/2022

“When there is no more separation between ‘this’ and ‘that,’ it is called the still-point of the Tao. At the still point in the center of the circle one can see the infinite in all things.” ~ Chuang Tzu ~

every day is one of dreaming, every day is one of awakening… in this special first moonth of the new turn around the sun, we are perfumed in the essence of dreamtime carried by the energy of great mother bear through the dark tunnel into the sacred space of the dream lodge, the cave of the heart, the place beyond words, the primordial womb of  great silence, of pure consciousness, true emptiness before the world begins… here we rest in the gap with silence breathing us in and out… as we hibernate in this deep cave of imagination, a new world is forming in this watery womb, this ocean of being…

breathing in and breathing out, we return to our great mother in still silence to receive essential nourishment as she breathes us into life through the placenta of the void, the organ of great mystery…

may we all be gentle with ourselves and each other as we journey along the path of  blessed darkness and deepen into a spaciousness of silence, a consciousness of generosity and of the wisdom of the heart giving us the strength to awaken the dreamer within and be the ones we have been waiting for… all our relations one unbroken circle of radiant love illuminating the dark sky, revealing wonder…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 8 – Day 339 – 11/20/2021

If we wish to create a lasting peace, we must begin with children.

 ~ Mahatma Gandhi ~

may we all  keep alive our child heart of wonder, of pure awareness seeing the beauty and sacredness of this moment, of every moment…

today is universal children’s day, a day established in 1954 and celebrated on November 20th each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare… this year, the day is about building a world where every child in school is safe from harm and can fulfill their potential… today is also observed as a day of remembrance for trans children of the earth who have died and those who’ve survived the violence directed at them…

To every child – I dream of a world where you can laugh, dance, sing, learn, live in peace and be happy.

~ Malala Yousafzai~

isn’t this dream shared by us all? surely we have it in us to create  such a world for the seven generations… yes, let us re-member our child heart and be wise innocents because…

Children Learn What They Live
By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.

“If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.”

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 7 – Day 313 – 10/24/2020

blessed be and holy synchronisiddhi!!! on this very day 75 years ago, the UN was founded and today…. drumroll… Honduras became the 50th country to ratify the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons! 50 is the magic number for this treaty which is a huge milestone in the decades-long effort to eliminate nuclear weapons and it will officially enter into force 90 days from today, on January 22, 2021…

thanks be for more nations of the world adding their voices to the chorus demanding the elimination of nuclear weapons thus paving the way for a world of peace… as more and more people around the world take up the cause of delegitimizing the arsenals of the nuclear nations, we must hold nuclear-armed nations to account for these weapons are an urgent existential threat to human and all sentient beings security…

the future we want – a world free from threats of mass destruction – is on the tip of our consciousness…
