Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 273 – 9/15/2018

Named Sacred 15 Fave Heart One Global Unity.

We need joy as we need air.

We need love as we need water.

We need each other as we need the earth we share.

~ Maya Angelou ~

yes, we the beloved community need each other and belong to each other eternally in the deep peace of of our one heart…

we all be longing to come home to our one heart

to awaken and re-member our original space of belonging

where mother waters sing to us of our true nature

one body, one mind, one heartbeat, one spirit

welcome home to our belonging circle

welcome home to our ocean of love

~

today’s pilgrimage reflects the walking of this talk as our sangha comes together for an annual feast celebrating the treasure of the sangha, the communion, on how precious we are to and for each other, ourselves and the world…

in closing, let us chant the Dalai Lama’s Vow and Four Great Bodhisattva Vows…

For as long as space endures

And for as long as living beings remain

So then may I too abide

To dispel the misery of the world.

~

Beings are numberless, I vow to free them

Delusions are inexhaustible, I vow to end them

Dharma gates are boundless, I vow to enter them

The Buddha Way is unsurpassable, I vow to embody it

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 272 – 9/14/2018

Named Sacred 14 Blue Star Vortex+++

i return to the village well today and am challenged, appropriately so, in this sacred moonspell of september to contemplate what is sacred to me, so sacred that i’d go beyond usual comfort zones and give the fullest measure of my energies… this contemplation is one that plays through me like a broken record and one where i love bringing up the image of both the inner and outer cosmic blue star  as the whirling primordial space, the womb of chaos giving birth dancing stars, big dreams, brave new worlds, that space of breaking free of convention and daring to dream with wild abandon…

so, dear sangha of free and easy wanderers, what is sacred to you, what calls you to break your heart wide open?

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 271 – 9/13/2018

Named Sacred 13 Heart Pilgrimage Chalice Well

“You do not belong to you. You belong to the universe. The significance of you will remain forever obscure to you, but you may assume you are fulfilling your significance if you apply yourself to converting all you experience to the highest advantage to others. Make the world work, for 100% of humanity, in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous cooperation, without ecological offense or the disadvantage of anyone.”

~ R. Buckminster Fuller ~

yes, today i re-member the well as i gather by livestream at the Village Well Symposium being held conjointly with the Global Climate Action Summit, the largest gathering since 2015’s COP21 in Paris…. the irony of listening to the call from the well as across the country family is weathering Hurricane Florence expected to drop twice as much rain due to climate destruction is not lost on me, the call to commit all the more imperative…

thank you for joining in this  call to be of service to the Earth and to the survival of our species for it is the widespread lack of connection to the sacred and to the indivisible interdependence of all life that lies at the heart of our current climate crisis… we need all hands on deck for this most crucial challenge, all of us committing to the following steps with the most important ongoing step being to cultivate a way of life prioritizing our connection and sense of belonging to the Earth…

  1. In careful observation of your life and community, including showing up for local politics and reaching out to those outside your social circle, choose and commit to an area of focus… Examples include: water protection, wildlife conservation, resource extraction, renewable energy, frontline impact and community education.

  2. Commit to taking a journey of research and learning in order to understand the intricacies and approaches to the topic you choose.

  3. Connect with a friend or organization to create an accountability structure that will support your regular, impactful involvement.

  4. Make showing up in your local community and getting involved a part of your work in the world. Be the example of what it looks like to truly commit to being a part of the solution.

we are born of the earth and all that we have comes from the earth, every day of our life, every breath that we take… now is the time to give back daily ensuring that the circle of life continues and flourishes…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 270 – 9/12/2018

Named Sacred 12 Heart Breathing.

to honor the elephant-headed Ganesh, Lord of Wisdom on his birth, let’s take a deep breath through our one heart and unwrap a present of presence…

~

Awaken to the mystery of being here
and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence.
Have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.
Receive encouragement when new frontiers beckon.
Respond to the call of your gift and the courage to
follow its path.
Let the flame of anger free you of all falsity.
May warmth of heart keep your presence aflame.
May anxiety never linger about you.
May your outer dignity mirror an inner dignity of
soul.
Take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek
no attention.
Be consoled in the secret symmetry of your soul.
May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven
around the heart of wonder.
~ John O’Donohue ~

~

may our moments in the river of life be filled with delight, flow with ease and blessed with wisdom…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 269 – 9/11/2018

Named Sacred 11 Afraid - Born with Courage to Do This

“If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation.”
Lao Tzu ~

on this seventeenth anniversary of 9-11 we have the opportunity both personally and collectively to bear witness to the tragedy of our global dark night of the soul as suffering and as our fate when we fail to see what is ongoing… an orgy of violence in the outer world mirrored in our inner worlds…

at the end of the first world war, William Butler Yeats bears witness in…

THE SECOND COMING

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

    Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

The darkness drops again but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

~

although written ninety-nine years ago, it feels like it is describing today… breakdown, anarchy, corruption  and then he moves into a new vision leaving the outcome open-ended as it is for us…

may we have the courage to face the evil, both inner and outer, and hear the cries of the world and ourselves… may we listen to the old master and transmute the darkness within by sitting quietly, invoking the invisible reams and plugging into source energy to empower right action… the wisdom of the serpent coupled with the gentleness of the lamb…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 268 – 9/10/2018

Named Sacred 10 Rumi Flowing Water Whale Watching

for the last five days, i’ve been in intense purification syncing into a sacred space of gathering the quintessence of the last 364 days or fifty-two weeks of the deepest, most conscious awakening initiation ever inspired by my injured fire eye exploding in pain on 9/11 and for the second time in a couple of years, i was offered an invitation to go deeper into insight as outer sight was being severely compromised… as with all calls to initiation, i did not feel i had it in me to make this pilgrimage, and, yet in surrendering my limited vision, a rhythm of  synchronisiddhi, of meaningful co-incidence followed opening my broken heart to a heart broken wide open… holy synchronicity, in this deep pool of reflection, a re-membering flows by… today is also the fifth anniversary of the first outer poetic peace pilgrimage, a day when i connected with Sacajawea who vowed to guide me through the wilderness…

so, on a day such as this, under the spell of the new moon, may we let go of  the inessential and plant seeds of the quintessential…

planting seeds of the nourishment of the earth,
planting seeds of the clarity of light,
planting seeds of the fluency of the ocean,
planting seeds of the protection of the ancestors,

planting peace seeds…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 267 – 9/9/2018

Named Sacred 9 Moon New-Resurrection-of-Desire-1

as we are celebrating both the new moon in virgo and the astonishing light of your being, here is the virgin goddess drawing down the energy of the dark moon and singing of being virgin, one in yourself and owning the astonishing light of your being…

under the dark moon be reborn,

witness your intentions take sacred form

believe in the energy flowing through

align with source for dreams to come true

re-member in every cell who you are,

a free and easy wanderer, a dancing star

dance boldly on the pathless path, sing with glee

under the new moon of rainbow mystery,

transformation is ours, blessed be…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 266 – 9/8/2018

Named Sacred 8 Love and Compassion

today, the pilgrimage delivers me into a community, truly, a common unity of love and compassion and generosity as  a large circle comes together on this day of climate rise and this day honoring Mother Mary’s birth and this eve of the new moon of  planting seeds   of love, compassion and encouragement for the brokenhearted living in the gap of the world that is and the world that can be… seeking wisdom for how we hold ourselves with integrity through our collective dark night and awakening, i turn to one who speaks eloquently on this essential question, one on which our survival depends…

HH the Dalai Lama on Global Compassion:

“I believe that at every level of society—familial, national and international—the key to a happier and more successful world is the growth of compassion. We do not need to become religious, nor do we need to believe in a particular ideology. All that is necessary is for each of us to develop our good human qualities. I believe that the cultivation of individual happiness can contribute in a profound and effective way to the overall improvement of the entire human community.

We all share an identical need for love, and on the basis of this commonality, it is possible to feel that anybody we meet, in whatever circumstances, is a brother or sister. No matter how new the face or how different the dress or behavior, there is no significant division between us and other people. It is foolish to dwell on external differences because our basic natures are the same.

The benefits of transcending such superficial differences become clear when we look at our global situation. Ultimately, humanity is one and this small planet is our only home. If we are to protect this home of ours, each of us needs to experience a vivid sense of universal altruism and compassion. It is only this feeling that can remove the self-centered motives that cause people to deceive and misuse one another. If you have a sincere and open heart, you naturally feel self-worth and confidence, and there is no need to be fearful of others.

The need for an atmosphere of openness and cooperation at the global level is becoming more urgent. In this modern age, when it comes to dealing with economic situations there are no longer familial or even national boundaries. From country to country and continent to continent, the world is inextricably interconnected. Each country depends heavily on the others. In order for a country to develop its own economy, it is forced to take seriously into account the economic conditions of other countries as well. In fact, economic improvement in other countries ultimately results in economic improvement in one’s own country.

In view of these facts about our modern world, we need a total revolution in our thinking and our habits. It is becoming clearer every day that a viable economic system must be based on a true sense of universal responsibility. In other words, what we need is a genuine commitment to the principles of universal brotherhood and sisterhood. This much is clear, isn’t it? This is not just a holy, moral or religious ideal. Rather, it is the reality of our modem human existence.

If you reflect deeply enough, it becomes obvious that we need more compassion and altruism everywhere. This critical point can be appreciated by observing the current state of affairs in the world, whether in the fields of modern economics and health care, or in political and military situations. In addition to the multitude of social and political crises, the world is also facing an ever-increasing cycle of natural calamities. Year after year, we have witnessed a radical shifting of global climatic patterns that has led to grave consequences: excessive rain in some countries that has brought serious flooding, a shortage of precipitation in other countries that has resulted in devastating droughts. Fortunately, concern for ecology and the environment is rapidly growing everywhere. We are now beginning to appreciate that the question of environmental protection is ultimately a question of our very survival on this planet. As human beings, we must also respect our fellow members of the human family: our neighbors, our friends, and so forth. Compassion, loving-kindness, altruism, and a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood are the keys not only to human development, but to planetary survival.

The success or failure of humanity in the future depends primarily upon the will and determination of the present generation. If we ourselves do not utilize our faculties of will and intelligence, there is no one else who can guarantee our future and that of the next generation. This is an indisputable fact. We cannot place the entire blame on politicians or those people who are seen as directly responsible for various situations; we too must bear some responsibility personally. It is only when the individual accepts personal responsibility that he or she begins to take some initiative. Just shouting and complaining is not good enough. A genuine change must first come from within the individual, then he or she can attempt to make significant contributions to humanity. Altruism is not merely a religious ideal; it is an indispensable requirement for humanity at large.”

may we deeply listen and digest this wisdom of how to hold the tension in a world that breaks our hearts by responding creatively rather than reacting with retaliation and violence by re-membering who we truly are… beloveds of the beloved circle…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 264 – 9/6/2018

Named Sacred 6 ReBirth 9-13-15 010

sometimes it’s hard to make the leap into the unknown letting go of trusty supports… taking a step into wilderness, wilder ness, unmapped inner landscapes…

today is such a day, a day to dismount from my horse letting her graze in the field while i rest curled up in a sacred spot  after flying through the sky and diving deeply into grandmother ocean and listening to her lullabies blessing adventuring into new spaces, wide open places of true refuge, coming home to our one heart, letting go and dissolving into divine flow… listen to her words comforting, soothing, encouraging…

Grandmother Ocean Blessingway

May you find comfort resting with me.
May my heart be a grandmother’s heart, my waves like a grandmother’s arms.
May my response to your suffering be a grandmother’s response to your suffering.
May I sit with you in the dark, like a grandmother sits in the dark.
May you know through our relationship that  love can always be trusted.

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 263 – 9/5/2018

Named Sacred 5 Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage Trout Lake Abbey 2014

when we polish the mirror of the heart, the true nature of the SELF is revealed and celebrated with every breath…

~

I AM pure consciousness, the underlying essence of all elements and beings.
I AM the innate nature of everything.
In pure water I AM the sweet taste.
In the sun and moon I AM the radiance.
In the very center of human beings I live as virility and courage.
I AM the sacred word Om, which is an appellation of the Divine , and I AM the sound of it heard throughout the universe.
I AM the slight, delicate scent, the sweet fragrance of the earth.
I AM the brilliance in both fire and sun, and I AM the light of Divinity in all beings.
I AM the subtle spirit in spiritual practices that gives them their existence– for example, the love in the devotee, the austerity in the ascetic, the sweet sense of charity in the giver.

The Bhagavad Gita
