Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 46 – 1/31/2018

Named Journeying 31 Moon Full in Leo 2018

here we are on the last day of this magical  moon of journeying january and what a magical mystery tour it is… with a trifecta of celestial synchronicity – our second full moon in this month, a supermoon and a blood moon/full lunar eclipse – this rare event hasn’t happened since 1866

today, may we celebrate the radiance of  light uplifted by the rising tide, the surging flow of divine feminine energy flooding the streets, the town squares, the reservations, the nerve centers, the halls of justice, the national parks, parliaments, legislatures, backyards, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, the market place, churches, temples synagogues and on and on and on…

and as spontaneously as we are pulled by a magnetic force to gather together, i hear the same conversation echoing again and again…. how are we to be, who are we to be… and on this day of the turning of the wheel contemplating what is truly real, asking what are we choosing to birth, for what do we choose to stand?

i turn to the courageous, the valorous voice booming from standing rock where they stand as a rock that will not be moved, will not stray from being loving presence and speaking truth…

the people of standing rock are asking for our prayers, our presence, our profound direct action for the next seven generations… they ask us now to come stand in what may be the final hour saying the time is now to stand together…

We Stand for the Earth.
We Stand for the Water.
We Stand for the Children!

Share and say I Stand!

standing together being loving presence always…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 44 – 1/29/2018

Named Journeying 29 Harnessing Love

are you feeling on  the inside what’s happening on the outside? we are about to have a celestial synchronicity that last happened one hundred and fifty-two years ago, i’m talking about the full moon in leo that will be lighting our inner fire and ourte sky as a supermoon, blood moon and the second full moon of this month… such a moon of transformation, of stretching beyond our comfort zones, of  harnessing love and discovering fire again… and, as with all full moons, a great time to let go of what doesn’t serve and focus our energies on lovingkindness and compassion…

“Just as compassion is the wish that all sentient beings be free of suffering, loving-kindness is the wish that all may enjoy happiness. As with compassion, when cultivating loving-kindness it is important to start by taking a specific individual as a focus of our meditation, and we then extend the scope of our concern further and further, to eventually encompass and embrace all sentient beings. Again, we begin by taking a neutral person, a person who inspires no strong feelings in us, as our object of meditation. We then extend this meditation to individual friends and family members and, ultimately, our particular enemies.
We must use a real individual as the focus of our meditation, and then enhance our compassion and loving-kindness toward that person so that we can really experience compassion and loving-kindness toward others. We work on one person at a time.”
~ The Dalai Lama ~

yes, may we all work on one person at a time re- membering it’s light that drives out darkness…

standing in love…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 43 – 1/28/2018

Named Journeying 28 Shepherd Lighting a Path

it’s the moment for the next installation of I wish I could show you the astonishing light of your being… Once again, it’s an honor to celebrate you of the visionary spirit, you who share so generously the energy of beloved community, the spirit of the only true power, the medicine of unconditional love… you who gather together across the planet to welcome the stranger, to speak truth to false power, to stand for equality, liberation, justice and peace… you who light up all our relations with staying true and standing strong in wisdom and love…

“It really boils down to this, all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
—Martin Luther King, Jr.

with every breath and step on the pilgrimage i contemplate how we all best serve the whole… i believe the bedrock of this query is understanding that all our relations prosper only when we realize we are part of a greater whole and our survival, our sustainability is intricately linked in the same way we are intricately interconnected to every thread in the web of life. It is, always has been and always will be a story of cooperation. Just as all the 70 trillion cells of my body cooperate to make me work, so must the 70 trillion cells to the 70th trillion power cooperate for the cosmos to expand harmoniously…

yes, Martin saw that the will to connect is our most essential impulse and how what affects one of us, affects everyone of us and how could it not since we are one body-mind-spirit-soul made up of trillions of cells to the infinite power…

since every thought, word and deed affects all our relations, may we all walk in wonder, saunter in awe  as shepherds, as lightkeepers, as sheltering arms, as beloveds all walking each other home to the frequency of right thought, right speech and right action…

i’ll close with the words of another pilgrim on  a journey and  wisdom lover…

Belong to your place by knowledge of the others who are
your neighbors in it: the old man, sick and poor,
who comes like a heron to fish in the creek,
and the fish in the creek, and the heron who manlike
fishes for the fish in the creek, and the birds who sing
in the trees in the silence of the fisherman
and the heron, and the trees that keep the land
they stand upon as we too must keep it, or die.

This knowledge cannot be taken from you by power
or by wealth. It will stop your ears to the powerful
when they ask for your faith, and to the wealthy
when they ask for your land and your work.
Answer with knowledge of the others who are here
and how to be here with them. By this knowledge
make the sense you need to make. By it stand
in the dignity of good sense, whatever may follow.

Speak to your fellow humans as your place
has taught you to speak, as it has spoken to you.
Speak its dialect as your old compatriots spoke it
before they had heard a radio. Speak
publicly what cannot be taught or learned in public.

Listen privately, silently to the voices that rise up
from the pages of books and from your own heart.
Be still and listen to the voices that belong
to the streambanks and the trees and the open fields.
There are songs and sayings that belong to this place,
by which it speaks for itself and no other.

Find your hope, then, on the ground under your feet.
Your hope of Heaven, let it rest on the ground
underfoot. Be it lighted by the light that falls
freely upon it after the darkness of the nights
and the darkness of our ignorance and madness.
Let it be lighted also by the light that is within you,
which is the light of imagination. By it you see
the likeness of people in other places to yourself
in your place. It lights invariably the need for care
toward other people, other creatures, in other places
as you would ask them for care toward your place and you.

No place at last is better than the world. The world
is no better than its places. Its places at last
are no better than their people…

~ Wendell Berry ~

may we wander as shepherds lighting a path to our one heart…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 42 – 1/27/2018

Named Journeying 27 Walking Lightly

The Real Work

It may be that when we no longer know what to do
we have come to our real work,

and that when we no longer know which way to go
we have come to our real journey.

The mind that is not baffled is not employed.

The impeded stream is the one that sings.

~ Wendell Berry ~

and here’s her song/our song…

Dance, dance wherever we may be

We are the soul of the place said she

And we’ll co-create wherever we may be

And we’ll co-create in harmony…

may we all sing, dance and  walk lightly together with more and more loving presence and trust…

let’s fall
in love
again

let’s turn
all the dirt
in this world
to shiny gold

come
let’s be
a new spring
a love reborn

find our aroma
from the essence
of all who
emit heavenly fragrance

like a fresh tree
bloom and spread
all the blessings
right from inside

~Rumi ~

here we are in the last days of the first moon of this turn around the sun, in the moon of dreaming, the moon of stardust, of all there is… i’m re-minded and re-heartened daily by cascading down like water deeper and deeper into the dream cave to how important awakening to the dream within, the soul song here in the deepest recess of our one heart, to how important this act of creation is…

like brother martin, like you, i have a dream of my personally and all of us collectively being more aware of our unity realizing there is only one of us here and each of our thoughts, words and deeds affects all our thoughts words and deeds…

i will be silently present with you now echoing the words of Rumi as we dwell for this moment in dreamtime, the stillpoint of creation…

may your dreams come alive today, may our dream come alive today as we fall in love again…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 40 – 1/25/2018

Named Journeying 25 two_minutes_to_midnight

In response to rising nuclear tensions and concerns about inadequate action to address the climate crisis, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists announced Thursday the hands of the Doomsday Clock have been moved and it is now just two minutes midnight, a signal to the world that international scientists and policy experts are increasingly worried about the likeliness of global catastrophe.

“In 2017, world leaders failed to respond effectively to the looming threats of nuclear war and climate change, making the world security situation more dangerous than it was a year ago—and as dangerous as it has been since World War II,” said a statement from the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.

The Bulletin was established decades ago by creators of the atomic bomb and aims to keep the world informed “about threats to the survival and development of humanity from nuclear weapons, climate change, and emerging technologies in the life sciences.”

“We have been lucky to avoid conflict through intentional or accidental means, but recent posturing and the false alarms in Hawaii and Japan show our luck is about to run out if we don’t move quickly,” warned Beatrice Fihn, executive director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, winner of the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize.

Looking forward, the Bulletin’s president and CEO Rachel Bronson, called on humanity to join together in order to turn the clock back. “It is urgent that, collectively, we put in the work necessary to produce a 2019 Clock statement that rewinds the Doomsday Clock,” Bronson stated. “Get engaged, get involved, and help create that future. The time is now.”

Named Journeying 24 Rainbow 16 Kaua'i 11-28-14 028+

deepest bows to grandmother spider… always weaving a web of such amazing, intricate interconnectedness demonstrating beyond the shadow of a doubt that we live in a cosmos of implicate order, great mystery unfolding…

today is the 1500th day of  walking this spirit path along the rainbow trail, a day of celebrating dreamers’ solidarity and courage, a day of re-membering a lucid dream of two years ago on this very day, a potent dream of grace…

i’m in a car and we’re winding around a mountain road when i realeyes no one is driving the car… i look around and feel the presence of pure love auto piloting the vehicle and in that moment i know i can relax and trust this journey… looking out to the left, i see beloved ocean below flowing in and out and i am filled with peace, love and joy as we continue our spiraling trek around the mountain into the land of rainbow sky where i breathe this moment of awe and rest on the trail of wandering in wonder knowing everything is grace, especially important on a day like today to be reminded and to hear the lost falls’ echoes rising from the river below the river whispering… be here now standing in the center one with cosmic flow…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 38 – 1/23/2018

Named Journeying 23 PEACEmaker

today, i’m contemplating resilience, the ability to re-bound, to pick up a thread and begin weaving anew and  i come to being deep peace of the flowing wave and boundless sky which brings me right to the lineage of the order of the  zen peacemakers and their practices… which open the space for the deep peace arising from  true emptiness of false self… let us go to the edge trusting in the implicate order to bring all that is into cosmic balance…

SiddhiZen Peacemaking

THREE REFUGES OF A ZEN PEACEMAKER

Inviting all creations into the mandala of my practice and vowing to serve them, I take refuge in:
Buddha, the awakened nature of all beings.
Dharma, the ocean of wisdom and compassion.
Sangha, the community of those living in harmony with all Buddhas and Dharmas.

THREE TENETS OF A ZEN PEACEMAKER

Taking refuge and entering the stream of Engaged Spirituality, I vow to live a life of:

Not knowing, thereby giving up fixed ideas about myself and the universe.
Bearing witness to the joy and suffering of the world.
Healing myself and others.

TEN PRACTICES OF A ZEN PEACEMAKER

Being Mindful of the interdependence of Oneness and Diversity, and wishing to actualize my vows, I engage in the spiritual practices of:

  1. Peacemakers throughout all space and time recognize that they are not separate from all that is.  This is the practice of Non-Killing.  I will not lead a harmful life nor encourage others to do so, and will abstain from killing living beings, thus living in harmony with all life and the environment sustaining it.
  2. Peacemakers throughout all space and time are satisfied with what they have.  This is the practice of Non-Stealing.  I will not take anything not given, and will freely give, ask for, and accept what is needed.
  3. Peacemakers throughout all space and time encounter all creations with respect and dignity.  This is the practice of Chaste Conduct.  I will give and accept love and friendship without using or clinging.
  4. Peacemakers throughout all space and time listen and speak truthfully and compassionately.  This is the practice of Non-Lying.  I will compassionately and constructively speak the truth as I perceive it, purposely deceiving no one.
  5. Peacemakers throughout all space and time cultivate a mind that sees clearly.  This is the practice of Not Being Deluded.  I will embrace all experience directly.
  6. Peacemakers throughout all space and time realize lovingkindness.  This is the practice of Not Talking About Others’ Errors and Faults.  Accepting what each moment offers, I will realize that I am not separate from any aspect of life.
  7. Peacemakers throughout all space and time realize equanimity.  This is the practice of Not Elevating Oneself and Blaming Others.  I will not blame, judge, or criticize others, nor compete with others or covet recognition.  In this way, I practice inclusiveness.
  8. Peacemakers throughout all space and time are generous.  This is the practice of Not Being Stingy.  I will not foster a mind of poverty in myself or others, and will use all the ingredients of my life, giving my best effort and accepting the result.
  9. Peacemakers throughout all space and time transform suffering into wisdom.  This is the practice of Not Being Angry.  I will not harbor resentment, rage, or revenge, and will roll all negative experience into my practice.
  10. Peacemakers throughout all space and time honor their lives as instruments of peacemaking.  This is the practice of Not Thinking Ill of the Three Refuges.  I will recognize that I and all beings are expressions of oneness, diversity, and harmony.

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 5 – Day 37 – 1/22/2018

Named Journeying 22 Nags Head 2014 2 011+

a day of perfect wind, spirit , breath gently rushing through the dream cave bringing a moment of lucidity on the true nature of reality, of being, of liberation coming as a lesson on impermanence, dynamism, flux, fluidity, riding the waves of life gracefully…

being deep peace of the flowing wave and boundless sky…

for you , my co- psychonauts and deep sea journeyers, a blessing for our voyage home into the present moment…

Every time you leave home,
Another road takes you
Into a world you were never in.

New strangers on other paths await.
New places that have never seen you
Will startle a little at your entry.
Old places that know you well
Will pretend nothing
Changed since your last visit.

When you travel, you find yourself
Alone in a different way,
More attentive now
To the self you bring along,
Your more subtle eye watching
You abroad; and how what meets you
Touches that part of the heart
That lies low at home:

How you unexpectedly attune
To the timbre in some voice,
Opening in conversation
You want to take in
To where your longing
Has pressed hard enough
Inward, on some unsaid dark,
To create a crystal of insight
You could not have known
You needed
To illuminate
Your way.

When you travel,
A new silence
Goes with you,
And if you listen,
You will hear
What your heart would
Love to say.

A journey can become a sacred thing:
Make sure, before you go,
To take the time
To bless your going forth,
To free your heart of ballast
So that the compass of your soul
Might direct you toward
The territories of spirit
Where you will discover
More of your hidden life,
And the urgencies
That deserve to claim you.

May you travel in an awakened way,
Gathered wisely into your inner ground;
That you may not waste the invitations
Which wait along the way to transform you.

May you travel safely, arrive refreshed,
And live your time away to its fullest;
Return home more enriched, and free
To balance the gift of days which call you.
