Exactly at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 99 years ago, people across Europe suddenly stopped shooting guns at each other. Up until that moment, they were killing and taking bullets, falling and screaming, moaning and dying. Then they stopped, on schedule. It wasn’t that they’d gotten tired or come to their senses. Both before and after 11 o’clock they were simply following orders. The Armistice agreement that ended World War I had set 11 o’clock as quitting time.
Each year, for a lot of years, there was a remembrance on November 11th. The U.S. Congress called Armistice Day a holiday to “perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding between nations,” a day “dedicated to the cause of world peace.” When churches rang their bells at 11:00, that’s what they meant. And they meant it right up until the war on Korea, the one the North Koreans all still remember with shudders of horror. And then Congress turned Armistice Day into Veterans Day, and veterans into props for marketing more wars and a permanent state of war preparations.

join with me on the 11th at 11 to chime bells 11 times commemorating the 99th anniversary of WWI’s end following that with a wave of three minutes of silence dedicated to all who died and to all who lived… and then, may we rise up singing and dancing peace…
“The weary world is waiting for
Peace forevermore
So take away the gun
From every mother’s son
And put an end to war.”~Al Jolson~
let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me and thee…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 328 – 11/9/2017
today, as i celebrate my grandmother’s birthday, Tibetan Buddhists celebrate the special holy day of Lhabab Duchen, a festival of re-joy-sing in all acts of kindness on this day when Buddha descended from heaven to liberate his Mother and repay her many acts of kindness…. join in the caravan of re-joy-sing by performing acts of compassion and re-membering all of the acts of kindness you bestow and all the acts that have been bestowed upon you…
today is a day to throw kindness around like confetti showing more kindness than may seem necessary because we always need it, especially the unkind people who need it the most…
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 327 – 11/8/2017
let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me and thee…
we live in times of crisis… times of danger and opportunity, times calling us to summon the courage to take on the response ability of being peace, of exploring the hard places in our heart and softening, of being water washing over the rigid and melting it into healing flow…
a year ago today there was an election catalyzing a great turning around the sun with a contemplation of a song of justice and true power…
Psalm 15
Lord, who can be trusted with power,
and who may act in your place?
Those with a passion for justice,
who speak the truth from their hearts;
who have let go of selfish interests
and grown beyond their own lives;
who see the wretched as their family
and the poor as their flesh and blood.
They alone are impartial
and worthy of the people’s trust.
Their compassion lights up the whole earth,
and their kindness endures forever.(The Psalms, translations by Stephen Mitchell)
may we all contemplate and utter this song again and again, infusing the cosmos with a passion for justice overflowing our one heart with truth and compassion… all over the planet there’s so much suffering, all over the planet there’s so much love… yes, our work is cut out for us… to summon every bit of courage and stand in love and stand for love again and again… in so being, we create a world of peace grounded in justice and guided by love…
will you join me in this moment, in every moment in a smile (start my internal love engine) of peace and breathe in deeply the boundless love all around us informing us every moment is a teacher with a healing gift of grace for love is the most powerful medicine, the most powerful energy of all…
once we let peace begin with me, we can generously share this eternally renewable energy source with everyone and everything…
may we all be bridge-builders, menders of brokenness, tenders of beauty in wounded places… in order to be whole, to be peace, we must accept every cell as the beloved, yes each of the trillions and trillions of threads of the web of life…
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 326 – 11/7/2017
looking around, we are filled with gratitude
looking above, we are filled with wisdom
looking below, we are filled with compassion
looking within, we are filled with true nature
living as one in peace and harmony

Song of Peace
We pray to the great Spiritual Power in which
we live and move and have our being.
We pray that we may at all times
keep our minds open to new ideas and shun dogma;
that we may grow in our understanding of the nature of all living beings
and our connectedness with the natural world;
that we may become ever more filled with
generosity of spirit and true compassion and love for all life;
that we may strive to heal the hurts that we have inflicted on nature
and control our greed for material things, knowing that
our actions are harming our natural world and the future of our children;
that we may value each and every human being
for who he is, for who she is,
reaching to the spirit that is within,
knowing the power of each individual to change the world.~ Jane Goodall ~
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 325 – 11/6/2017

we all breathe together, may we all breathe in peace…

may we release pain and embrace joy

may we release sadness and embrace peacemay we release fear and embrace freedom
may we release pain and embrace joy

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 324 – 11/5/2017
holy synchronisiddhi! it’s the day to share an image showing you the astonishing lightness of your being and it isalso the eighty-eighth turn around the sun celebration of the being of light featured in the image above with her painting of a real – eyesed rainbow bwing…
for the past eight hundred and sixty days, i have gathered with another, an extraordinary being of shining light, in sacred communion to voice metta, lovingkindness blessings for all our relatives… each evening, we join at the threshold to offer ourselves and everything we are to the field out beyond… we envision the whole cosmos joining in and experiencing the true reality of oneness where we see all our relations as numinous love…
invoking this divine light of grace every day is one of the most transformative paths i have ever walked; sauntering along this rainbow trail of devotion daily, with this gifted guide, teaches and shows me the way of saging gracefully…
on this very special day, the anniversary of your birth, i celebrate you with this blessing prayed every morning by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, a blessing you walk and talk each day…
May I be a guard for those who need protection
A guide for those on the path
A boat, a raft, a bridge for those who wish to cross the flood
May I be a lamp in the darkness
A resting place for the weary
A healing medicine for all who are sick
A vase of plenty, a tree of miracles
And for the boundless multitudes of living beings
May I bring sustenance and awakening
Enduring like the earth and sky
Until all beings are freed from sorrow
And all are awakened.
~
deep bows and boundless love, beloved flow-er of beauty and soul of the space wherever your soles are kissing the earth, our one heart eternally smiles as we walk the spirit path together until all our relations are free of suffering…
Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 323 – 11/4/2017
still in the glow of the full moon lovingkindness sangha, today’s pilgrimage is flowing across the river to be with the river people who have lived here for eleven thousand turns around the sun… the people who have such a sense of belonging to land, to place, such a relationship of intinacy/into me i see and sensitivity with landscape with so much to teach and show those of us who have only been here five hundred years and are still naturalizing…
siting now in this healing story circle, the songs of the ancestors, of the earth flow through the ocean of being connecting all in an unbroken circle…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 321 – 11/2/2017
a poem comes to me, it comes circuitously… written as a ritual celebrating cosmos creation, it seems perfect for this all souls day of honoring the ancestors and sending them back into the night sea to watch us as we emerge and see… sounding and re-sounding the words, we breathe in life and breathe out life in a seamless circle… birth to death to rebirth to death as one organic whole… join me in bowing to and flowing in beauty…
Ancestor Prayer
When you were born,
The earth became your body,
The stone became your bone,
The sea became your blood,
The sun became your eye,
The moon became your mind,
The wind became your breath.
When you passed to the Otherworld,
Your breath became the wind,
Your mind became the moon,
Your eye became the sun,
Your blood became the sea,
Your bone became the stone,
Your body became the earth.
When we were born, you did the same for us:
You called forth the earth and rocks;
The sea arose and the sun descended;
The moon shone down and the winds sang.
For those who come after, we shall do as you did for us
When we are gone, we shall do as you did before.
Ancestors, we honour you.Rev. Michael J Dangler
